For housing options at Boulder Housing Partners, eligibility for all apartments starts with:

  • Households meeting income requirements
  • At least one member of the household being 18 years of age or older
  • Applicants passing a criminal background check

Affordable Living

Affordable living options include maximum incomes to qualify which are based on Boulder County’s Area Median Income (AMI) of $81,900 as set annually by the US Dept. of Housing and Urban Development.*

Each option describes what it is, maximum income to qualify, and additional qualifying information that may apply.

Deeply Affordable Communities

Apartment communities managed by Boulder Housing Partners throughout the City of Boulder that come with rent assistance and supportive resident services available. Eligible residents pay approximately 30-40% of income towards their portion of the rent, and the remainder is subsidized through federal funding.

While we’re best known for offering income-qualified apartments in Boulder, we also take pride in offering beautiful market rate apartments.

Housing Choice Vouchers

Rental assistance for qualified community members that can be used in privately-owned apartment complexes or rentals located throughout Boulder County. After qualifying, Housing Choice Voucher holders pay approximately 30-40% of their monthly income towards rent, and Boulder Housing Partners pays the remaining balance directly to the rental owner.

Boulder Housing Partners prioritizes assistance to local applicants who are:

  • Living in Boulder County
  • Households with an adult who works at least 20 hours per week within Boulder County
  • Households with an adult child or parent who resides in Boulder County (In this instance, either the applicant family must be, or the immediate family member living in Boulder County must be, a senior over the age of 62 or a person with a disability.)
  • Homeless and currently receiving services in Boulder County

From this group, we then select those who are:

  • Seniors (age 62+)
  • Individuals with disabilities
  • Households with children

There are a limited number of Housing Choice Vouchers available. If an applicant does not fall into one the above groups, the chances of receiving a voucher are limited.
