Attention Boulder Community Members,

Boulder Housing Partners (BHP) wants to inform you about a recent increase in scams targeting Housing Choice Voucher (formerly known as Section 8) applicants. These scams involve fraudulent advertisements on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, falsely claiming to assist with Section 8 funding applications.

Important Points to Remember:

  • Legitimate Communications: BHP or any legitimate housing authority will never charge you to join a waiting list or apply for assistance.
  • Avoid Scams: Do not click on suspicious links or provide personal information, such as Social Security Numbers or bank details, to websites found through online searches.
  • Verify Information: Always verify the legitimacy of information with trusted sources. Contact BHP directly 720-564-4610 with any questions about the application process.

If you encounter a scam or believe you have been a victim, please file a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) at (https://www.ic3.gov/). For scams specifically involving HUD, reach out to the Computer Incident Response Team (CIRT) at CIRT@hud.gov.

Stay vigilant and help us protect our community from fraudulent activities.

Thank you for your cooperation.
