The “I Have a Dream” Foundation (IHDF) of Boulder County is adding a new class of first and second graders as Dreamer Scholars this year, providing the opportunity for educational supports for over fifty families from sixteen Boulder Housing Partners’ (BHP) communities.
The Dreamer Scholar model, with its one-on-one attention and daily programming, has proven to narrow the opportunity gap. Dreamer Scholars graduate from high school, enroll in post-secondary programming, and complete their post-secondary education at much higher rates than low-income peers without this additional support. In 2020, the high school graduation rate for youth from nine BHP communities was 96%.
Virtual Dreamer Scholar outreach has begun with IHDF, BHP Resident Service coordinators and BHP families. To learn more about this educational opportunity at BHP communities contact, Amanda Maya Dickson at ResourceConnect@boulderhousing.org.
