WaterSense sprinkler systems installed at several Apartment Communities

BHP has installed WaterSense weather-based irrigation systems at several Boulder Housing Partners Apartment communities. This innovative technology significantly reduces overwatering by applying water only when plants need it. WaterSense controllers can save an average nearly 7,600 gallons of water annually per apartment community when compared to standard sprinkler systems.

All BHP homes have access to Low Flow Water Fixtures

All BHP homes, both current and newly developed apartments, are equipped with faucet aerators; low-flow showerheads are also provided and installed free of charge to residents.

BHP has instituted a pesticide-free organic landscaping program at three pilot sites.

This program focuses on building living soil, which will grow strong, healthy drought- and disease-resistant grass. Each 1 percent increase in soil organic matter helps soil hold 20,000 gallons more water per acre. We have partnered with the City of Boulder to create a lawn care manual to help guide us through this process, which can be found here.

Educational Tip:

The average leaky toilet can waste about 200 gallons of water per day. That’s over 6,000 gallons a month – enough to fill an above ground pool! If you hear a leaky toilet at your BHP apartment, let us know!
