Boulder Housing Partners (BHP) received a Housing Development Award at the Colorado and Mountain Plains Chapter of the National Association of Housing & Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) Conference in May for Palo Park, BHP’s newest affordable rental apartment community providing 35 innovative, energy-efficient & service-enriched homes.
Palo Park is unique in that BHP partnered with Flatirons Habitat for Humanity to create a mixed-tenure community, with 35 rental homes and nine affordable homeownership Habitat for Humanity homes.
Apartment homes at Palo Park are highly energy-efficient, with energy costs offset by an 89 Kw solar system. A dual port electric vehicle charging station is available for residents as well as RTD Neighborhood Eco-passes. The development meets or exceeds Boulder and Enterprise Green Communities requirements.
Palo Park amenities include a new playground, community gardens, covered bicycle parking and connections to nearby trails and open space. A community center provides a variety of programs and workshops, including Bringing School Home parenting workshops, Boulder Food Rescue weekly food delivery and Boulder Student Leaders, a college & career after-school program for teens.
